- The project with PLN 11.2 million budget shall receive PLN 6.3 million financial support
- The project subject is ECG TechBot software that uses a set of algorithms for automatic verification of analysis and interpretation of the ECG signal based on deep learning methods
- The project shall support ECG technicians in preparing reports on heart function monitoring
- R&D tasks shall be executed until 2022
Medicalgorithmics S.A., a cardiac diagnostic solutions provider, received funding from the National Centre for Research and Development for the ECG TechBot project. It is dedicated software that uses a set of algorithms for automatic verification of analysis and interpretation of an ECG signal based on the so-called deep learning methods. The agreement with NCBR was concluded on December 22, 2017. The project developed by Medicalgorithmics was selected as part of Activity 1.1 of the Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
The total budget of the ECG TechBot is PLN 11.2 million. The NCBR subsidy is PLN 6.3 million. The project is divided in two phases: research and development. The subsidy for research is PLN 2.2 million and the research is to be conducted from 2017 to mid-2020. The financial support for development is PLN 4.1 million, and the development tasks shall start after the research phase and finish in January 2022. Then, it is planned to implement and commercialize R&D tasks.
The Company plans to implement ECG TechBot software not only in its key product, PocketECG (a diagnostic system for detecting cardiac arrhythmia), but also in its all proprietary cardiac telemetry solutions.
Now, the PocketECG device automatically detects and provides morphology of each heartbeat and identifies many different arrhythmias. Then, ECG technicians manually verify data analysis, including the classification of morphology and waves. Next, an automatically generated report is sent to a physician attending a given patient. The report contains graphical data accompanied with a static analysis, which makes it easier for physicians to provide diagnosis.
The ECG TechBot project is supposed to enable to fully automate the verification of ECG test analysis and interpretation. The set of developed algorithms shall enable to verify the analysis of cardiac rhythm and morphology classification. This will reduce the risk of human errors in ECG signal analysis verification and optimize the monitoring center operation.
“We are happy that our project has been qualified for financial support. We are now conducting a few innovative and unrivaled ECG diagnostics projects. Financial support for our research will speed up the development of our proprietary algorithms and shorten the time to market new solutions. Moreover, thanks to unique knowledge gained during algorithm development and system testing, we are able to create new innovative market solutions which make it easier for us to enter new markets. In this way, we strengthen our position among the top global providers of advanced cardiac telemetry solutions,” said Marek Dziubiński, the President of the Board of Medicalgorithmics S.A.
